Holds - Suspending and Unsuspending Holds

This document will explain how you can suspend and unsuspend holds within Symphony WorkFlows.


  1. Select the place hold wizard in the common tasks wizard group. 
  2. After entering the user id, selecting a title to place a hold on and choosing a pickup location, click on the gadget to the right of the date suspended field. When the calendar appears, select the current date to immediately suspend the hold. 
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click on the gadget * to the right of the date unsuspended field. When the calendar appears, select a date in the future when the suspension is to end. When this date expires, the hold will begin the process of being filled. 
  5. Click OK.
  6. *important note*
    If only a date suspended is entered and no date unsuspended is entered, the hold will be suspended indefinably. If no date unsuspended is entered, the system would not know when to end the suspension. So be sure to include a date unsuspended when suspending holds.
  7. Click the place hold button.
  8. When a user is displayed at the check out screen, the user's holds that are suspended show a status of suspended and also show the suspended date and the unsuspended date.
