Records in Use Errors

When trying to place holds in both Symphony and in Enterprise, we will occasionally see a "Records in Use" error appear.

The reason for the error is that at the same time throughout the consortium the hold keys associated with a request or the catalog key associated with the title is being accessed at the exact same time by another of our nearly one million users and staff.

Most generally, the hold can be placed easily in a couple of minutes after receiving the error.

It does typically happen on titles with many holds and many copies the most.
