Symphony WorkFlows Indexing Errors - March 1, 2024

Symphony WorkFlows indexing errors began Monday, February 26th, 2024 and persist through today, March 1st, 2024.  Reported error messages that persist are "heading keys need to be indexed first" and "heading not found".  


This article will act as a guide for staff and recommendations on how to use wizards for today for the best possible experience.


Searches can only be performed using "keyword" search type across all wizards

  • Item Search & Call Number and Item Maintenance wizards - Please choose Keyword as the search type.  Browse type searches will result in heading key errors
    • Browse Searching will result in the error "heading keys need to be indexed first
    • Title Control# Browse and Exact searching still does work
  • Place Hold wizard When, using the Item Search Helper, the default Search Type is Title - Browse. You will need to change this to Title - Keyword as shown below:
    • You can also scan or type in the Item Barcode in this wizard to successfully place the hold.
