Determining Language of MARC Records in WorldShare Record Manager

WorldShare Record Manager is a worldwide database and has records for items in many different languages. SEO would like all records to be in English, even if the resource is in a different language.


Question: How can I determine a record I am downloading is in English?
Answer: There are four ways you can determine if the language of a record is in English.

1. After performing a search, the record language is displayed in the Enhanced Search Results.


2. The 040 subfield b tag indicates the language of the record. 


3. After performing a search, use the Language of Cataloging facet to limit to English.


 4. Before performing a search in WorldShare Record Manager, you can limit the search to only English records by using the Advanced Search feature and selecting English (eng) in the Language(s) of Cataloging option:
