SEO Libraries App: Not Displaying Properly Or Features Missing On Android Phones & Tablets

Modified on Wed, 4 Sep at 2:50 PM

We are aware of an issue affecting some Android phones that will cause the SEO Libraries app to not display properly, or certain features such as account login, search bar, and other items to be missing.

The Android operating system replies on a system component called "Android System WebView" to display web based content inside of apps(outside the browser). This app can become corrupted or not work properly causing issues with the SEO Libraries app. Since Android System WebView is a system component and so many other apps rely on it, troubleshooting it can be more difficult than other apps.

How to Reset Android System WebView

Method 1

1. On your phone or tablet go Settings--->Apps

2. In the search box type Android System WebView

3. Tap on Android System WebView and scroll down to where you see "App Details in Store" or "Installed From Store"
or something similar. This verbiage will vary depending on your phone manufacturer. Tap on it.

4. This will open the Google Play Store page for Android System WebView. Click Uninstall. This will uninstall all the updates to Android System WebView and reset the component back to its original settings. This won't uninstall Android System WebView, it simply resets it.

5. Now launch the SEO Libraries App. All the features that were missing before should now be back, and the app should be functioning as normal.

Alternate Method To Reset Android System WebView

If you are not comfortable with the method above, or if your Android phone doesn't match closely enough with the images above, you can use this alternate method below.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, using the Chrome browser, visit the following page https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.webview&hl=en_US&gl=US

2. Click the uninstall button on the Google Play Store Page for Android System WebView (You may need to be signed in to your Google Account on the Chrome browser)

3. Launch the SEO Libraries app, it should be working properly again.

Other Information

Android System WebView is updated regularly by Google. So the next time your phone checks for updates, it will properly reinstall the updates for WebView, and you should have no further issues with the app. This has no negative impact on your phone other than resetting the component as sometimes updates to WebView can be corrupted.

If this doesn't solve your issues with items not displaying properly on the SEO Libraries App, or you are not comfortable performing these steps, please put in a ticket or give us a call and we will help you though the process.
