Symphony WorkFlows 4.1.0 FAQs

We have compiled a list of questions and answers regarding the upgrade process scheduled for Monday, February 19th, beginning at 12:00 AM EST. If you have additional questions that are not answered, please submit a ticket and we will do our best to answer your question and post it here. 


Is admin privileges required to install/upgrade Symphony WorkFlows?

Yes, a user with Windows admin privileges is required to perform this upgrade.  Please plan accordingly.

Can we install the new software at the close of weekend hours, but not configure the connection to the server?

Yes, some locations may choose to upgrade staff workstations at the close of business on February 16, 17, or 18, depending on your library's hours of operation. This is the preferred method to prevent any possible delays Monday morning. If your location chooses this option, they must NOT reconnect to the Symphony Server until Monday morning after the upgrade has concluded, or they may downgrade the client software to the previous version.

Monday, February 19th is a Federal holiday.  Will SEO staff be available?

Yes, SEO staff will be available to notify library staff when the upgrade is complete and to assist with any issues that may arise.  Library staff can call SEO and/or create tickets on the day of the upgrade.

If we choose to wait until Monday to upgrade; when will we be able to login and receive the WorkFlows Client update?

SEO staff will notify everyone via the listserv Monday morning once it is OK to launch the WorkFlows Client to receive the update.  Staff MUST right-click on the WorkFlows icon and run as administrator upon opening.

How do we verify the upgrade was successful?

To verify you have upgraded WorkFlows successfully, please launch WorkFlows and go to Help > About and verify the version is 4.1.0.xxx
