Patron Transfers and Account Management

According to the SEO Principles of Cooperation, "The SEO Advisory Committee would like to encourage SEO member libraries to accept library cards from any other SEO member library provided the user’s card is in good standing. The Committee understands there are valid reasons a user may request a card from your library (access to databases and other location or library-specific resources). It is encouraged to refrain from issuing a new library card to a user with delinquent charges at any of the member libraries."

If a patron moves to your location and would like a new library card, your library can use their current library account or create a new account.

Account Editing

If your library opts to use the original library card, staff may edit Name, Privilege, Demographics, and Address data. The Library and Profile Name should not be changed without notifying the circulation contact of the original library.

Account Removal

If a new library card is issued, encourage the patron to contact their former library to remove the account or offer to contact the original library on their behalf. However, if the patron does not want the account removed, the account will be purged after three years of no activity.
