French Subject Headings in English WorldShare Records

Modified on Mon, 4 Nov at 10:24 AM

OCLC is working on a project “to enhance WorldCat data quality by controlling and enriching subject headings in individual bibliographic records.” OCLC staff states, “we'll enrich records with headings that are mapped across authority files, such as from the French Canadian Répertoire de vedettes-matière (RVM) into English-language authority files.”

The RVM subject headings have a second indicator of 6.

Although you may see these headings in WorldShare, subject tags with second indicators of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are not imported into the WorkFlows database.

Please note, that some French headings are still in the record. That is because they have a second indicator of 7 which is imported into WorkFlows.
