Magazine Enumeration and Call Number Guidelines

The enumeration/call number should represent the publication date or issue number found on the magazine. Month names must be represented numerically. Use the tables below as your guide for entering call numbers in WorkFlows.

Call Number Guidelines (Publication Date)

1. Indicate the year, followed by a forward slash. Example: 2026/
2. Indicate the numerical value of the month, season name, or special issue name. Example: 2026/01
3. For weekly magazines, input a forward slash followed by the issue date. Example: 2026/01/02

Note: Use a hyphen for issues that span across years, months, and/or days.

Monthly and Weekly Examples

Seasonal Examples

Write out the full season name: WINTER, SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, AUTUMN. For FALL and AUTUMN, use the specific term printed on the magazine.

Issue and Volume Examples

Magazines that use Issue numbers instead of dates will have the Base Call Number display as MAG followed by the year.

2026 Special Issues

Write out the issue name as it appears on the magazine, but omit the words: Special, Issue, or Edition.
